Halloween falls on a Monday this year, all children (and anyone else who is
so inclined!) are invited to wear their costumes to church on Sunday, October
30th! Since the eighth century Christians have celebrated All
Saints' Day on November 1 to celebrate the known and unknown Christian
Saints, as well as All Hallow's Eve the day before. Today we call that
festival Halloween (Hallow's Eve) and we have many fun secular ways of
recognizing it. However, it's important to remember that its celebration has
a long, positive history in the Church. The festivities on All Hallow's Eve
were the Christian's way of laughing at death and evil, something we can do
in certain hope of Christ's victory over the powers of darkness. Let's
commemorate this wonderful history and send our children forth with a special
blessing before the trick-or-treating festivities begin. GOING FORWARD 2012
SALEM CROSS INN FIRESIDE FEAST You are invited to attend the annual Salem
Cross Inn Fireside Feast & Friendship Gathering scheduled for January 7,
2012 at 5:30pm (Dinner @ 7:00). The deadline to make payment for

The Standing Committee is now working on a transition plan and on forming a Search Committee. Bishop Scruton will be with us at All Saints' on Sunday, February 19, 2012, for his last visitation and celebration of his ministry. CIRCLE OF
FAITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY UPDATE SILENT AUCTION SUCCESS! Sincere
thanks to the Habitat for Humanity All Saints' Silent Auction Committee for
an outstanding job at the recent fundraiser which raised approximately $5,000
towards the $10,000 commitment made by All Saints' to the Chestnut St.
Habitat home in Every
5 weeks or so, All Saints' Church will be asked to supply 5-6 volunteers to
work side by side with various other faith groups. Some weeks All Saints'
will also be called to offer amenities for the work day. We have placed a sign up sheet in the
hallway if you'd like to put your name on the list to work at the site. No
experience is necessary (although if you have a skill, please list it) and
ALL are welcome. Join us in working
together to make a house a home for a very deserving family! Look for the
picture of them on our bulletin board. There are also houses/calendars in the
hallway for your family to take home and fill with spare change. A small way
to count our blessings and bless others at the same time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Education for All Ages The Adult Forum meets in Kidder Hall at 9:15 am. Sunday
