OCTOBER 5TH

LOOMIS VILLAGE  On Wednesday, October 5th, Rev. Tanya will celebrate the Holy Eucharist at 11:00 am at Loomis Village, 20 Bayon Drive in South Hadley. All are welcome!

OCTOBER 9TH

THE GLEANING PROJECT—Part II.  All Saints’ volunteers have the opportunity to participate in another gleaning project this year. This is the third year that All Saints’ has partnered with Helping Harvest to gather fresh, local, organic produce left in the fields after the mechanical harvesters have finished their rounds. Last week a group picked 2,525 pounds of tomatoes and distributed them to area food pantries.  On October 9th volunteers will travel to Enfield, CT to glean apples.  Anyone over the age of 12 is welcome to join in this quick and easy method of securing food to feed the hungry in our area. Please meet in the All Saints’ parking lot at 12 NOON and we will travel in a caravan to the farm! Remember to dress for the weather.

OCTOBER 10TH

COLUMBUS DAY  On Monday, October 10th, All Saints' Church invites you and your family to a celebration of fall in New England as South Hadley celebrates Columbus Day! Our church will host a variety of offerings to delight all ages… Chili on the Commons, Soups on the Street and a fabulous Tag Sale in Kidder Hall. If you are interested in helping out, speak with Rene.

OCTOBER 12TH

VESTRY MEETING  The vestry of All Saints’ Church will meet Wednesday, October 12th at 6:30 pm.

OCTOBER 18TH

CROP Walk  On Sunday, October 16th, you are invited to help end hunger one step at a time by participating in annual CROP Walk. Registration will be held at the Granby Town Common beginning at 12:30 pm and the 1 or 3 mile walk of your choice will commence at 1:15 pm.  All are welcome to participate either by walking or by pledging a donation to the All Saints’ CROP Walk team.

OCTOBER 30TH

HALLOWEEN AT ALL SAINTS’  Although Halloween falls on a Monday this year, all children (and anyone else who is so inclined!) are invited to wear their costumes to church on Sunday, October 30th! Since the eighth century Christians have celebrated All Saints' Day on November 1 to celebrate the known and unknown Christian Saints, as well as All Hallow's Eve the day before. Today we call that festival Halloween (Hallow's Eve) and we have many fun secular ways of recognizing it. However, it's important to remember that its celebration has a long, positive history in the Church. The festivities on All Hallow's Eve were the Christian's way of laughing at death and evil, something we can do in certain hope of Christ's victory over the powers of darkness. Let's commemorate this wonderful history and send our children forth with a special blessing before the trick-or-treating festivities begin.

GOING FORWARD

2012 SALEM CROSS INN FIRESIDE FEAST  You are invited to attend the annual Salem Cross Inn Fireside Feast & Friendship Gathering scheduled for January 7, 2012 at 5:30pm (Dinner @ 7:00).  The deadline to make payment for reservations is October 25th.

DID YOU KNOW ??
Did you know Bishop Gordon P. Scruton, in a letter to the Diocesan Council,

the Clergy and the people of the Diocese, announced his plans to retire at the end of 2012? The Standing Committee is now working on a transition plan

and on forming a Search Committee.

Bishop Scruton will be with us at All Saints' on Sunday, February 19, 2012,

for his last visitation and celebration of his ministry.

CIRCLE OF FAITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY UPDATE

SILENT AUCTION SUCCESS!   Sincere thanks to the Habitat for Humanity All Saints' Silent Auction Committee for an outstanding job at the recent fundraiser which raised approximately $5,000 towards the $10,000 commitment made by All Saints' to the Chestnut St. Habitat home in Holyoke!

Every 5 weeks or so, All Saints' Church will be asked to supply 5-6 volunteers to work side by side with various other faith groups. Some weeks All Saints' will also be called to offer amenities for the work day.  We have placed a sign up sheet in the hallway if you'd like to put your name on the list to work at the site. No experience is necessary (although if you have a skill, please list it) and ALL are welcome.

Join us in working together to make a house a home for a very deserving family! Look for the picture of them on our bulletin board. There are also houses/calendars in the hallway for your family to take home and fill with spare change. A small way to count our blessings and bless others at the same time.

*Education for All Ages

The Adult Forum meets in Kidder Hall at 9:15 am. Sunday School also begins at 9:15 in the classrooms on the lower level.  Students will then be able to join their parents for the entire worship service at 10:30 am. To better engage the hearts and minds of the youngest among us, a child-friendly version of the lessons and gospel reading for the day, The Sunday Papers, will be available in the narthex. Education for All Ages will be held every Sunday morning throughout the school year with Nursery care offered from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon.

*During the school year.
